As cities continue to grow, urban planners face the challenge of designing and implementing future cityscapes that address the aspirations and concerns of residents. This includes considerations such as environmental sustainability, equity, affordability, and public health. To streamline urban planning endeavors and enhance the overall liveability of cities, the concept of smart cities has emerged.

Smart cities aim to integrate technological development with different functions and components of urban life, such as mobility, energy management, water resources, and more. By leveraging the power of technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities can collect and analyze real-time data from people, devices, and infrastructure. This data-driven approach enables more efficient resource usage, improved city services and operations, and enhanced overall quality of life.

The integration of technology into urban planning brings numerous benefits and opportunities:

1. More Effective Decision-Making Based on Big Data: Smart cities can leverage the vast amount of data collected from various sources to make informed decisions and optimize resource allocation.
